The Missing Checkbook

Last night I was thinking about my doctor’s appointment today, so I asked Joyce where the checkbook was. She did not know, so we started looking for it. We turned the house upside down without finding it. I left this morning hoping Joyce would remember where it was. When I got home she had still not found it and that was when I began to worry. We both tried to remember when and where we last saw it. She thought she had given it to me to put away and I thought the last time I had seen it was when we were heading for the casino in Oklahoma. We both checked the car and it was not there. We both checked her suitcase and did not see it. We both checked my desk drawer and nearly everything in the house again with no luck. I got on line to check our bank statement and there were no checks written on it. While there I looked at a small account we had opened in May. I saw it was paying 2 cents a month interest and then I saw the bank was charging us $10 a month service charge for that same account. That along with the missing checkbook just about sent me over the edge! I was down in the basement getting a fresh beer supply when I saw her suitcase there. There was something that screamed out to me to just pick it up and shake it. I knew I had just seen some napkins and some red solo cups in there the night before, but I picked it up and shook it as the little voice in my head told me to do. When I did that I heard and felt something hit the side of the case that was more than plastic cups and napkins. I unzipped the case and there it was, the checkbook she looked twice for and I had looked once for. Joyce blamed the ghost for hiding it and causing us the frustration for nearly 24 hours. I suppose since we both had looked there; I can go along with Joyce’s theory.
